Roanne’s Race is named for Roanne Cairel, who graduated from Granada High School, Livermore, in 2005. Before loosing her battle with colon cancer at the age of 24, her friends and family told her they wanted to do something for her in her name, to honor her. She expressed that she wanted a 5k for colon cancer research, and they took that idea and “ran with it”.
This is a 5K/10k run/walk event that takes place in Livermore every year on the first Saturday of November, rain or shine. For this year’s race they will be adding a Kid’s Fun Run for those 10 and under.
Roanne’s Race will take place on November 2, 2013. Please visit their “5k/10k/Fun Run Registration” page for more information on registration!
All of the proceeds from the race will be donated to support the research of colon cancer, specifically among young people.
